Time to Settle
I am sure it can very dramatically from case to case, but what is the typical or averge settlement time for medical malpractice cases in the state of Texas

The time needed to settle a medical malpractice case varies widely, depending upon many factors, including what county you are in (the courts in larger counties are more crowded), whether the insurance company wants to settle or go to trial, whether or not you have reached "maximum medical improvement" and therefore an expert can estimate your damages, and many other factors. A very rough estimate would be 12-18 months if no suit is filed and 2-3 years if suit has to be filed. (In the vast majority of medical malpractice cases, suit does have to be filed.)
