Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Texas

Vet neglence

Have a three year old dog needed c-section and spay. Had vet perform both, then ten days later, had severe vaginal hemmorage. Took to another vet for emergency assistance. New vet says that cause of newly found severe internal infection and massive bleeding caused by incorrect performance of surgery by first vet. Interested in collecting repayment of second vet bill from first vet in addition to any other applicable damages. What may be sued for as far as negligence and/or pain and suffering for pet or family?

Re: Vet neglence

under texas law, pets are considered as "property". you can recover the reasonable cost of "repair" or the loss of value. there is no recovery for pain or mental anguish. i am sorry for what happened. bill featherston
