Legal Question in Military Law in Texas

Med Board

My wife is being med boarded for Mood Disorder NOS and Borderline Perdonality Disorder. She is a Sgt of the USA Army. She was doing fine while she was in Iraq and now when she got back she started to expirience all symptoms of the PTSD.I have a feeling that she is not diagosed right and that Army is trying to reduce precentage by giving the diagnose with lowest procentage. Also they are pushing her to sign honorable discarge. Please advise! She just got back from 15 month tour in Iraq.

Re: Med Board

She should not sign anything without consulting with an attorney. She should only receive a medical discharge, not one for any other reason. If she goes through a medical board, they are supposed to note all conditions and diagnoses in assessing her disability. Make sure that she consults with someone who is familiar with and has experience in dealing with military medical boards. Although they largely use the the same rules as the VA, there are many exceptions and changes.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any other questions.
