Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

In 2002 i was involved in an "at fault" automobile accident in which i had no insurance. I made arrangements but defaulted after only about a month. Well just this year i made arrangements to resolve the issue becuase the law firm handling the case had my license suspended. The balance went from 6000 to 11000 because the law firm said it increased due to interest. My question is can they make me pay the interest? I have since gotten my license back but i have yet sign there agreement.

Interest on WHAT?

Is there a judgment against you? You didn't make that clear.

In Texas, a judgment draws interest (you should demand that they send you a copy of the judgment), but it sounds like they're gouging you.

It is not clear to me whether you are talking about money you had to pay to get your license back or money you owe your lawyers.

I'm not sure it is possible for your attorney to have your license suspended. However if you have an accident, are at fault and cause damages and do not pay them, DPS can have your license suspended until you pay the amount due or make payment arrangements to do so. Given the amount of time that has passed since the accident, interest in the area of 6 or 7 percent could increase the damages substantially. I'm not sure what interest rate DPS charges in these situations.

If you have not paid your lawyer, they may have filed suit and taken a judgment against you. My guess is that they would have withdrawn from your case after ten years.

Perhaps they are correct but if I were you, negotiate...and obtain help from a lawyer...as such judgments are frequently reversible...and we should be able to reduce the obligation substantially..call now if u want our help...
