Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas
2 Personal Injuries Recently
My son and I were involved in a traffic accident approx. 30 days ago. The other individual (a minor) ran a red light and T-boned my truck on the drivers door. The truck was totaled, along w/ my trailer and new ATV. I visited the emergency room and was treated for contusions and soreness from the impact. I am still experiencing pain in back and ribs. I had to spend considerable time and effort dealing w/ adjusters and trying to replace my lost property. Three days ago I was at a new car dealership where the chair I was sitting in collapsed, wrenching my back again. I have had no contact from the dealership to check on my condition. I am concerned this most recent incident will complicate any settlement form the auto accident. I'm not out to sue anyone, but would like to be fairly compensated for my pain, suffering, lost time and property losses. Should I emply a lawyer?

Re: 2 Personal Injuries Recently
If you don't hire a lawyer, the defendants know you have no power to make them pay what is fair. You express a common misconception of trial lawyers...they cause lawsuits..but the cause of lawsuits is unfair treatment of persons injured. In Dallas there are almost 50,000 ladwsuits filed a year..less than 1000 are tried. But people, like you, only hire lawyers in 10% of the injury cases...why..they have been
convinced we are a litigious society and "they don't want to sue"..so get a lawyer who knows personal injury law..

I suggest you contact a lawyer to discuss your case. Almost all personal injury lawyers will give you an initial consult (over the phone or in person) for free. Also, many places will not charge you a fee, unless they collect for you, and many places will not charge for property damage claims. You should consult with a few law offices to see which one is the best "fit" for you.
