I have a attorney for a auto accident and they recently submitted a first request on my behalf for compensation,I would like to know what is the most money a lawyer will open up with in percentage for a first request andcan I be informed if I choose to;be informed of every offer or counter-offer by my lawyer or insurance adjusters.

An attorney should consider the accident reports, medical records, medical bills, deposition transcripts, if any, etc., in formulating a reasonable settlement range for the case. Then, the attorney is obligated to convey his/her recommendation to the client and get the client's approval and authority before making a settlement demand. Further, an attorney is obligated to convey any settlement offers he/she receives to the client. That is, the client is to be fully informed of the status of all settlement negotiations.
