Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Bed bug infestation at Holiday Inn

I was a recent guest at a major hotel in TX. Bed bugs were discovered in the bed and on the walls. I wasn't offered another room until the following afternoon. The agony of sharing space with antagonistic insects has invaded my mind ever since. I was treated by a Dr. and still have anxiety as a result of the incident. Are there laws of reciprosity between Illinois and Texas? Is there a Cause of Action? Am I entitled to the results obtained by the laboratory that examined the bed? What recourse do I have?

Re: Bed bug infestation at Holiday Inn

There are no "reciprocity" laws between Texas and Illinois as pertains to your question. The general rule for the question you present is that if you file suit, it will need to be filed in Texas.

You may have a cause of action. If the bugs have caused you permanent injury, contact a Texas lawyer. On the other hand, if the bugs have been more of an annoyance, you can bring an action in small claims court. You still will have to prove negligence.
