Re: car accident while working

If you were in the course and scope of your employment at the time of your accident, and your employer had workers' compensation insurance, you are eligible for workers' comp benefits.

I assume no one was injured and that you are asking about auto and/or other property damage. Your employer should not be responsible for your having wrecked your vehicle unless you have some sort of agreement or employer policy concerning such a happening. If you damaged other property, for example, ran into someone's house, then your employer may be responsible in the event you do not have adequate insurance or funds to pay.

If you were in the course and scope of your employment at the time of the collision, then your employer may have some exposure. You should notify your personal auto insurance carrier and any business auto insurance carrier for your employer to make sure those coverages stay in place.
