The friend's homeowners policy is liable ONLY if your daughter fell due to the negligence of the friend. (However, most homeowners policies have a small "med-pay" provision that will reimburse for some of the medical bills. This policy will vary in amount, but is usually between $1,000 and $5,000. Beyond that, you would have to prove that the friend was somehow negligent in causing your daughter's fall.)

First, I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. Second, there are two types of policies, liability (this will pay if the homeowner was 'at fault' for your daughter's accident) and med-pay (pays a very small amount, no matter who is liable for the accident.) What caused your daugter to fall?

Mr. Street's answer is accurate. If you have health insurance you may want to consider whether to make a claim on the friend's insurance since it might cause a rift in your daughter's friendship.
