There's a reason that everyone is telling you to hire a lawyer. It's very easy to mess up a case like this. To answer your question, there may be other policies in place that can kick in, but you have to follow their rules to the letter. Typically, there will be one or more underinsured motorist coverages that you would need to apply for. However, there are notice and permission requirements that the UIM carriers will insist upon.

Because most (if not all) injury lawyers give free initial consultations, call a few and see which one you like best.
