Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Electric Shock

I am staying at a cattle ranch. On sep 11, 2006 I had to open a metal gate when it suddenly grabbed and shook me for approx. 10 sec. Then I fell to the ground. The person I am staying with took me to the hospital. I had to spent 1 1,5 days in the hospital.

A big electric company has a substation close to the ranch property. Due to a long dry summer it was not grounded right and it electrified some fences.

My hospital bill total more than $ 7000.

What are my options now?

You need to determine how the fence became electrified, and whose fault it was. If the fence was installed incorrectly, then the installer or property owner may be liable. If it was the electric company's fault, then you will have to file a claim with them. You should seek legal counsel to do this investigation for you. Most law firms (mine included) will meet with you and discuss your options at no charge, and they won't charge you if they cannot collect for you.

You need an experienced personal injury attorney to represent you. You may be entitled to not only reimbursement for your medical bills, but also damages for physical pain, mental anguish, lost time from work, and perhaps other damages as well. Carefully review the qualifications of the attorneys you are considering. Go to their web sites and read about their experience level. Speak to more than one attorney and hire the one who seems best suited to you and your case.
