Heart Attack, First Responder Sheriff Refused Help Me
My HUsband had a Heart Attack on Aug 21. I called 911. First Reponder was the Sheriff. I begged him 3 times to help me with the CPR and Chest Compressions and he refused saying the Ambulance would be here soon. So I continued to do it by myself. The ambulance did finally arrive in maybe 5 minutes later. They could find no vitals and took him to the hospital. They did work on him for 45 minutes before they said he was gone. He was 54 years old and was alive when he first had the attack. Is the first responder there to help medically or is he there to watch someone else? I am really mad at him. Small Town, everyone knows everyone. Also, I found out that there was never a doctor at the hospital..That is crushing too. But not as bad as the Sheriff just watching me..He did tell me to lean his head back further so I know he knew CPR better than me. Thanks in Advance..

Re: Heart Attack, First Responder Sheriff Refused Help Me
Your question does not strike me as a legal question since it may relate more to County policies. You should, therefore, direct your question to the County. If you are asking whether the sheriff has any legal liability, then the answer to that is probably not. Since this involves the death of your husband, you might want to consult with a local attorney to get an opinion as to whether you have any legal options regarding the cause of your husband's death.
