Held responsible

My father is still of sound mind, but has named me as his Power of Attorney. If he were to commit a criminal act or an offense against a third party, could I be held personally responsible?

No. You are not his guardian. You are authorized to perform acts for him in his interests according to the scope of the POA - you are not responsible for him.
