Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Hello,

This is a weird story but I need to find some answers. Anything is appreciated.

2 weeks ago, my friend and I made brownies with herbal incense. We bought this legal product from a gas station and cooked it in the brownies. After eating a little bit and not feeling anything, I decided to bring the brownies home and I put it in my fridge. I did not tell my family that they were spiked with anything, and one week later my mom took them to work. While being in Cancun, my family emailed me telling me that 11 employees got sick, and the hospital is trying to press charges on my family specifically my mom or me. However, this is 2 separate events and there was no intent to harm anyone. I made the brownies for myself and my mom took them to be nice.

I talked to the detectives the other day and they say they are going to give me a felony because I tampered with the food; however, I did not bring it to the workplace and give it to the employees. The 11 employees felt "drunk" and were released early that day, but returned to work perfectly fine the next morning. Currently, the investigation is still going on as they took blood tests and a sample test of the brownies. Since the product is legal and sold in stores, I think the tests will come back negative. However, I don't know if they test for herbal incense. My mom is currently on administrative leave with pay and is scared to lose her job? I told the investigators this story and they still think they will press a felony on me, what should I do? What should I expect? Thanks.

You didn't commit a crime because you didn't give the brownies to anybody. The police are stupid.

However, you did something unwise: Leaving these brownies sitting around where anybody could get to them.

Stop talking to the police; these clowns are NOT your friend. Tell them to arrest you, or get out of your face. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TALK TO THE POLICE.
