if somebody hit me in a car accident and is their fault but they don't have insurance how can I recoup money for car damages?

If you have collision insurance, then use it. If not, then you will have to sue the person who hit you. If your damages are $10,000 or less, then you can do it in small claims court. This will help you get a judgment. If the person, however, has no $, then your chances of recouping any $ are doubtful.

You can also attempt to contact the Texas Department of Public Safety in Austin. They may revoke his license if he does not pay your damages or a judgment you have against him.

However, if they do not do it on their own, it is pretty hard to convince them to do it.

I think your car damages have to be over a certain amount of money also.
