Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Hurt by hot oil

I washed my hair on Friday 8/24/01 and put some hot oil made by TCB in it. The oil wasn't REALLY hot, it had been in a cup of hot water from the faucet before I put it on. Anyway, I didn't see it coming, but some of the oil got into my left eye. There were NO instructions on the packaging about what to do, it didn't say consult a physician, flush with water, nothing. So I flushed my horribly burning eye with water for the next 2 hours. It hurt badly and became swollen and red. I went to sleep by putting a cold rag with ice on my eye. The next day, it was still burning so I kept putting water in it. Finally, I could take it no longer. I called Poison Control who told me to go to the E.R. The doctor treated me and gave me an eye test. He prescribed an antibiotic for the eyes called Garamycin (sp?). Fortunately, there's no permanent damage and my sight is still 20/20, but what an ordeal! I am still, 4 days later, treating my eye with the prescribed medicine. Is there anything that can be done? Shouldn't they, at least, have a warning on the package that says, keep out of eyes? Also, how about a clue about what to do IF the product gets into the eye.

you wait to go to the ER. Feel free to call me at 210.224.5811.

I am in San Antonio. Where are you located?
