Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

My husband was in a wreck involving a man on a motorcycle. The man sued my car insurance and is now suing my husband. Can this be done in the state of Texas?

Generally a claim is made against the insurance company of the vehicle the negligent driver was operating. If not settled, then the negligent driver is sued and the insurance company then handles the defense in the lawsuit.
