Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas
injury
I have a friend that works for an animal clinic. 6 weeks ago he was hit in the eye by one of the other workers with a sharp object. He went to the hospital and they said his eye is permanently injured. He has so far been to the specialist many times and he is still saying it is permanent. His eye is always expanded like at night to see better and will never get any better. I need to know if this is a good case since he is permanently injured. Also, who would he sue and for how much? How would he find out if the person has homeowners insurance? Should he even try to get a lawyer and sue-in your opinion? Thank you for any help you can give me for him.--name removed--

Re: injury
If your friend was injured at work by a co-worker, his first claim is for worker's compensation. If the animal clinic is a non-subscriber, he can sue the ownership for any liability insurance they may have. It would be a good WC case, and only further investigation would reveal if additional liability existed.
Re: injury
The are a number of issues that would have to discussed. First, is the employer a subscriber to workers compensation insurance? Second, how did the incident occur? There is a possibility that a claim could be brought against the company and/or the other employer. If interested, give me a call.
