Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas
I was involved in a single car rollover accident during which I, the passenger, was ejected from the vehicle through the windshield. I told my mother about the call from my friends insurance company asking for copies of medical bills and she said I should go talk to a lawyer. I was (miraculously) not seriously injured. Is there any need to seek a lawyer or should I just do what the insurance people say?

Sounds like you were very lucky! How long ago did the accident happen? The problem is that until you have been checked out well and do physical therapy and let some time elapse, you may not discover certain potentially serious medical conditions until later. The insurance company will try to lowball and get you to settle quickly. It's their job. I would suggest that you speak with a lawyer before doing anything. You can go to my web site www.kirbylaw.net and review the personal injury site. I will be glad help you with your case. These are done on a contingency fee basis, so you don't pay anything until the case settles.
You definitely need to speak with a lawyer. The insurance company doesn't have your best interests in mind. You are entitled to past and future medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and mental anguish, and disfigurement. I handle personal injury cases throughout Texas and would be glad to speak with you. I can be reached at 512-472-8318.
The insurance company is looking out for the insurance company -- at your expense. Most injury lawyers (myself included) will review your case with you for free. I would recommend you meet with two or three, see which one you like best and then go from there.
I am a Texas Injury Lawyer. Our consultation is ALWAYS FREE and we work on a contingency fee (meaning you don't have to pay our fee unless we recover for you).
I was just in the Paris-area a few weeks ago, that is a unique area in Texas and cases must be handled delicately.
You case could be more serious than you think and dealing with the insurance company can be much more difficult than you think.
If you don't call me (or one of the other lawyers above) you need to consult with a lawyer. There is no obligation with the free consultation. You can reach me 8AM to 11PM all 7 days a week by calling: 512-827-7548.
Good Luck!
I have handled a number of Explorer a, Bronco II and Blazer rollovers. I believe you have a claim and you should hire an attorney immediaately to represent you, investigate the occurence, preserve the evidende, and consider reconstructing the rollover if your damages are substantial enough. You have a claim against the driver and maybe the manufacturer of the vehicle.
