What your lawyer is doing IS NOT ILLEGAL.

Basically, your personal injury lawyer's fee is a percentage of the settlement amount...the fact that he is trying to get a reduction from the hospital only increases what you get...his fee is not changed. Meaning he is working to get you more money and he will never see a dime for his efforts.

Reductions with hospitals are often worth the time that they take. Hospitals are BIG businesses and have independent third party reduction companies. Those companies have no incentive to be fast and will often take a month or two to respond...even in an easy case..then after they respond you have back and forth negotiations.

Your lawyer can better advise you about time expectations. The best approach is to simply ask how long he expects the reduction process to take.
