Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

I live in Texas. There is a person, no longer a friend of mine, who is telling my friends, family, and even my child's school, very personal and private information about me that I shared confidentially with her during our friendship. There was an agreement, though, that the things I did tell this person would never be shared with anyone else, even in the event that we would no longer be friends. Some of this information that is be stated to others is not even completely true, or even absolutely false. This information, both true and false, has negatively affected my reputation and character. What can I do about this? This is causing extreme stress to me, my family, my friends, and most of all, my two young daughters. My youngest daughter goes to school with this person's daughter, and comments have been sent from this person, through her child, to my child. Please help!

If a person tells things about you that are true, it isn't SLANDER.

If she tells LIES about you, and your reputation suffers, it's slander.

Why is this person telling your secrets?

Consider filing a lawsuit against her for slander just for the "shutup" effect it might have on her.

And let this be a lesson to you: Don't share secrets with people.
