Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas
Eight months ago I was involved in a fender bender where I hit a driver when my view was blocked by a large truck with a trailer. In the accident my entire front bumper fell off and I hit the front passenger side wheel of the other car. At the time the gentleman told me it was okay and that he understood how it happened and that he was okay and wanted to know if I was okay. We did call the police but the gentleman refused to take an ambulance to the hospital or call out a wrecker service. Neither of us was hurt. He even told the officer how it happened and that he knew there was no way I could see him. Over the weekend I received a notice that this same man is now suing me for $200,000.00...$100,000.00 for pain and suffering and $100,000.00 for any future pain and suffering. I am a 62 year old woman living on less than $800.00 per month for disability. I cannot afford a lawyer and I do not understand how this could happen. I live in Texas. Are there any laws out there that will protect me? Why did he wait 8 months?

If you had auto insurance at the time, turn it over to your insurance agent for handling. Your insurance company will provide a lawyer for you at no additional charge.
If you did not have auto insurance at the time, then you should consult an attorney. If that's the case, you may call me for a brief consultation at no charge.
