If a person is in the owner's backyard with permission and gets bitten and the owner knows or should have known that the dog might bite, then the owner may be liable. Texas has a one bite rule, that is, if the dog has demonstrated dangerous tendencies then the owner has a duty to make sure the dog does not harm others.
