Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas
I rear ended a lady..
Hi,
Back in 11/04/04 I rear ended a play on the expressway. It was a low impact accident and no one was hurt. I did have insurance at the time of the accident, just liability coverage. Her car looked just fine. I asked the lady three times if she needed me to call an ambulance but she declined saying she was fine and was not hurt. In the police report it stated that the police asked if she needed medical assistance but she declined and that she was going to see a doctor later that day. My insurance company paid $235.00 to the other party. They stated it was a low impact collision. They did advise me that there is a good change that they might sue and to forward any documents I received from them to my insurance company. Well about a year and a half later sure enough I am being served now. Well they are trying but I am giving civil process the run around. Should I let my insurance company sort all of this out? Or should I get an attorney of my own? I am a college student with a family so frankly I dont have money to hire and attorney. Any advice on what action to take?

Re: I rear ended a lady..
If you have insurance, accept the suit papers and forward them to the insurance company. they will hire you a lawyer and pay for the defense of your claim. That is a requirement of the policy that you purchased. Assuming the value of the injuries is within your policy limits of coverage, there is no need for you to hire an attorney of your own at this time.
