Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas
Rear ended in Texas and am injured
I was rear ended on the highway when i was at a stop and it forced my car to hit the one in front of me three days ago. The insurance company for the person at fault wants me to call and give a recorded account of what happened. I have whiplash and went to my doctor but no x-rays where done. I have car damage that is more than just body damage. I want to know the best way to handle the person at faults insurance company and what i need to do to receive what I am entitled to. I was just laid off and wanted to know if they had to cover anything on wages since I am injured and can't look for work since I am on unemployment. It is in the early stage and only a claim has been made.

This kind of work is what lawyers do. If you want what is fair from the ins. co, I strongly suggest you find a lawyer who works on these cases. I can assure you that the ins. co. has no intention of being fair with you.

You should consult with a personal injury attorney before giving the statement to the insurance company. The insurance company is working quickly to minimize your claim. You need to protect yourself against what they would like to do.

I cannot emphasize strongly enough how important it is that you retain a competent personal injury attorney immediately. These cases are far too complex (and insurance companies are far too skilled at keeping you from getting the benefits to which you are entitled) for you to try to handle this on your own. (You wouldn't attempt "home brain surgery," would you? This is a very similar situation.) Hire a lawyer who handles nothing but personal injury cases. Those of us who do this day in and day out know exactly what to do to maximize your recovery.
