Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Statute of Limitations with Late Discovery of Cause

We had an explosion in our home due to natural gas. It was first thought to be a natural underground source, but was discovered about a year later to be due to a leak in the local gas company's distribution line (not on homeowners property). Does the statute of limitations for a civil suit in this case begin when the injury occurred, or when it was finally discovered who was at fault?

Re: Statute of Limitations with Late Discovery of Cause

Typically, a cause of action such as this must be brought within two years from the date the incident happenned. There are a few exceptions in certain circumstances, however, they are very narrow.
