Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas
I am being sued for a assault case for personal .injuries and need to file a answer asap. I am not understanding of law terms and on top of that i am broke. The whole deal is the the guy set me up(meaning the guy is the type of guy to jump out in front of a car or something). It was one of those situations where i was at my dads house the guy shows up uninvited but they were friends at the time. This guys trying to get me high on marijuana and i was telling no.It led to us getting into a verbal conflict. It starts out by him telling me how he loves me and then hes calling me a pussy cause i dont want to get high. I had ask if he wanted to find out trying to get him to leave me alone. he kept coming at me harrassing me at first i was just like whatever man then he started like loungeing at me.then i had turned around and came at him,we went back about ten feet. he just stopped and let hit him he didnt even try to put his hands up. the thing is i only jabbed, there was know marks on his face.i had jumped back and he just stood there for a second or the n fell over hitting his head. The problem his he was really hurt im thinking but he did it himself(meaning he fell over on purpose). He's claiming all these false allegation which most of them i thinking i will be able to prove. I know the sounds fishy but it's the truth. What do you guys think? I need to get my answer in asap but need help. Do they have lawyers will do partial work of your case if not whats my best bet. If I do get screwed can they send me to jail if I can't pay?

If you're broke, you have a lot less to worry about when you're sued.
I assume that the incident happened in the same county where you're being sued.
File an answer in the form of a "Defendant's General Denial" (I assume that you have actually been served).
The answer can simply say, "I hereby enter a general denial." Then you sign it, file it with the Court, and mail a copy to the plaintiff's lawyer.
