Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas
Im being sued for something that is not my fault. What will Happen?
Okay so i just got served papers. Im getting sued for a car accident that was in a parking lot. The accident its self was a very slow impact accident. When I say slow I was going like 2mph. Well the parking lot was full and there was in suv illegall parked at the end and behind it there was a car backing out. I could not see and I turned and hit the car. The guy is sueing me for neck injuries and other stuff like that. Let me say this guy was joking around laughing and walking around normal after the accident. He apparently got neck surgery. He also after the accident called me and threatened me telling me. In I quote "motherF@#4er I am going to take care of you" and then hung up. I think he is sueing me for either $150,000 or $50,000. I am not sure those were the two numbers on the papers I got. I have never had any thing happen to me and have never been sued. Whats going to happen?

You need to turn this over to your insurance company (or if you didn't own the car you were driving, then to the owner's insurance company.) You need to do this ASAP. If you were uninsured, then you will need to hire your own attorney to defend you. Do not ignore this.
Make sure you notify both insurance carriers.
REPORT THIS TO YOUR INS. CO. ASAP AND REQUEST THEY APPOINT YOU AN ATTORNEY TO DEFEND THIS LAWSUIT. CALL YOUR INS. CO. AND ANY INS. CO. THAT INSURED THE CAR.
I agree with the other attorneys who posted comments.
