How do I recover damages for an automobile collision from someone who has no insurance?

The best alternative is if you have uninsured motorist coverage on your auto policy. Otherwise, you will have to sue the individual and hope that he has the wealth to satisfy a judgment taken against him.

You can seek to have the person's driver's license suspended. That usually gets their attention.
