Treatment Discrepancies After An Auto Accident
My boyfriend was involoved in a motorcycle accident where he was seriously injured and was care-flighted from the scene to the nearest county hospital. He was awake and alert by the time he arrived at the hospital and even gave the nurses my name and phone number so that they could notify me of what happened. He had along with other various injuries, a minor puncture to his spleen that they weren't certain would heal on it's own so they advised him to be placed in the ICU until they could determine wheter or not he needed surgery. The problem is that they placed him in a triage unit with two other elderly patients that were dying and he felt very uncomfortable there, so he asked to be moved to a regular room. Even though the condtion with his spleen was not life threatning, they repeatdly refused his request and left him there for three full days before deciding that he was no going to need surgery. I recently found out that he never signed a consent to treatment and never verbally agreed to be in the ICU. They are now billing him over $57,000 for all this treatment he never even wanted. Is there anything we can do?

If he has health insurance, he should let his health insurer handle it. Talk to the insurer about your billing concerns.
If somone else caused the accident and has ample insurance, then you can also make claim against that person. Please contact me if this accident was caused by someone else who had insurance.
