Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Verbal Harassment/Emotional Abuse in the workplace.

I work for a large veterinary corp. The Dr. they placed in our hospital 2 months ago verbally assaulted me 3 days ago to the point that I had to walk out and couldn't return. It was witnessed by 2 other employees. The assault consisted of name calling and epitethets. I am in a supervisory position and had contacted Team Resources with a list of grievances about this Dr. several days prior. Do I have any recourse as far as emotional abuse? I will have to transfer hospitals or resign if I want to stay with the company. Several of the grievances had grounds for termination, but I don't believe he was censored for any of them, or my verbal attack. The attack was completely unprovoked.

Re: Verbal Harassment/Emotional Abuse in the workplace.

You could sue the dr. by alleging the tort of intentional infliction of emotional distress. Your description, however, does not give enough information for me to advise you whether it would be worth pursuing. It sounds like you are doing all the right things by talking to resources and looking for either a transfer or job change.
