Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

I was the victim of a hit and run accident. I was not in the vehicle. It was parked and the accident was witnessed by a resident in my apartment building. The witness i.d.'d the vehicle (license plate) and actually saw 2 people running from the jeep that hit my truck. We were able to obtain pics of the damaged vehicle and an off duty policeman ran the plates for us. After we tracked down the owner of the jeep he turned the claim over to his insurance company. They have totaled my truck and are offering me half of what I'd have to pay to get another one. And that's if I turn the truck over to them. If I keep the truck they will only pay me half of what it will take to fix it. Can I sue the owner of the jeep to make me whole? They have been ticketed by the Police for a hit and run.

Yes, you can (and should ) sue the owner of the jeep. Do it today.

THAT will get the attention of his dirtbag insurance company.
