Legal Question in Product Liability in Texas
Went to get an oil change. Now the car doesn't start? Please Help
-=Background=-
This car is actually my parents' car, but since they do not have a clue what to do, I thought I'd ask a few questions. The car is a 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager (minivan) with Allstate insurance.
My dad went to get the oil changed and state inspection on Monday, November 17 9:30 A.M at Carspa. We began wanting only the oil change, but they asked us to do the full service (oil change, transmission oil change, coolant check, fuel injection clean.) After my dad waited for two hours, the car would not even start. Afterward, my dad brought a mechanic to the shop who would say the engine was ''locked?'' and that the entire engine would have to be changed. On Thursday, November 20, Carspa called and said they are not responsible for anything. The car has been there until today, November 22.
We have repeatedly requested for paper work on what they have done to the car, but they have not complied.
-=Questions=-
-What is the best action to take?
-Should we tow the car away from Carspa?
*I researched the topic some, but my knowledge is limited. It seems everyone recommends submitting a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, but my mom does not want me to.

Your Mom is right. The BBB doesn't do anything. Carspa is denying liability because you have no proof they did anything wrong and they have the documents. You're really caught between a rock & a hard spot because it would cost as much (or more) for a lawyer as to fix the engine.
