Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

belongings held hostage

Our mom recently passed away.Her ex husband was living with her,but I understand that since my mom deeded the house to us before she died we can evict him.They have been divorced since about 1993.I'm concerned though about him trying to steal her furniture and jewelry alot of which has been passed down several generations.What can we do to get these items,he has since changed the locks on this house and the alarm codes and even notified the police to watch for us even though he has no legal right to be in the house.

Call the police. It is now a criminal matter since he is a trespasser and won't allow access to your property. It won't be pretty.
