Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
Breaking a Lease
I resided at a rental property from which I needed to vacate prior to end of lease. I gave 30+ days notice, indicated I knew I was breaking the lease, which could not be avoided, etc. My apartment was re-rented shortly. Can they hold me rent responsible through the end of the lease, thus collecting double rent on the unit if it re-rented? I have been sent to collections on this account which I don't intend to pay...
