Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
My brother is going through a divorce, had to sell his house and is staying with me and my husband until the divorce is final. His daughter visits him here 3 days a week. Do I have the right to ask his soon to be ex not to come into my home. I have requested that any business they have be conducted in the driveway, yard or anywhere besides IN my home. She has been confrontational in the past which is why I made the request, however the last time she was here she be demanded to be let in my house and the situation did result in a stressful evening. I considered a restraining order but I really do not want to become involved. Please tell me what my rights are as the home owner. Thank you.

You have the right to exclude ANYBODY from your home! You don't even have to give a reason.
If she makes a "demand," tell her to go to hell. Learn to say "no" and stick to it.
Sit down right now and write her a letter. It will say: "You are not allowed inside my house. Ever. If you try to force your way in, I will treat you as a trespasser." Lick a 44-cent stamp. Keep a copy of the letter. And STICK TO YOUR GUNS.
