Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Builder Problems

Our home has a structural flaw and the builder is suggetsing we have to accept a repair that will alter the inside of our house. We questioned the area in question before we ever bought, but the builder told us it was only a bad seam in the sheetrock. 8 months later, we found out we do have a structural issue. Another home owner had the problem which caused the builder to check all 14 of the same floorplans in our neighborhood. Pulte told at least 4 of us that we were affected. I am very confident the plans are wrong, but I don't know how to confirm it, and if so, what are we entitled to? Is there a way to get the plans? I've already checked city and county records, no luck there.

Re: Builder Problems

The builder had to submit the plans to the City to obtain a building permit. Be sure you are going to the engineering, code enforcement, or building services department. Try there, and if no luck, see if you can get the name of the architect or designer.
