Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
I'm buying a car from a guy and he gave me the title and told me to put it in my name. The car is completely registered in my name, tags, title, insurance, except for the inspection bc it doesn't go out till August 2010. My cousin recently purchased a car from the same guy, the heads cracked on the car after the second day of owning it so they gave it back to him. Now, he wants the title of my car, there is no contract and the payments are all verbal. I'm wondering can he legally take the title back or the car? I've never missed a payment and replaced the windshield myself when I bought the car. He didn't put any work into the car, I had the oil changed and kept up with the maintence myself.

If there was an agreement in which he feels "shorted," his remedy would be in small claims court for monetary damages. Title has passed.
