Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Cheated on a land deal

Can a home be financed and built 2 years ago on land that supposedly was not sold until a few months ago? My ex-husband claims to have just recently sold some land we owned while married and that since he did not sell at a profit I am not entitled to any money. However, according to the county appraisal district records, a $106,000.00 home was built on this land 2 years ago. How do I go about finding out information on this and if the land was sold two years ago before we were even thinking of a divorce am I entitled to any money and is he guilty of fraud in any way?

Re: Cheated on a land deal

Real property records are all on file with your county's property records department, including any improvements since most require some sort of funding and deeds of trust would be filed. That's the place to begin your search.

Regarding the other part of your question, if there was fraud on the community during your divorce, you certainly can go back into court to ask for what is right and just in the property division. Consult with an attorney quickly before you lose your allowable time frame.
