Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

cutting tree brances on your property from bordering property

My neighor has a tree on which two branches extend well over my lakeside property. I talked to him three months ago telling him I was going to trim my trees, and I ask him to talk to his wife and let's try to find a solution to the overhanging branch issues which blocks my lake view sight. They told me not to cut their tree. I am wondering if I have rights to cut the branches anyway. They will not work with me, and I hate the idea that our friendship could be jeopardized, but I can't see the water in their direction due to the tree branches. Please let me know what is legal. I have read numerour sights that say I have the right to cut on my side of the line.

The branches are "trespassing" across your property line. You have a right to trim at the property line, but it is always best to work it out with your neighbor.
