Death no Will

My father passed away a month ago and had no will. My mother and father own property which is their homestead. There are 6 children and one half brother. What forms need to file so that my mother will be the only owner of such property.

I'm sorry to hear about your father. As for what to file, it depends on whether or not your father had debts when he died. Also, it depends on whether or not the mother and father were married when the house was purchased. Finally, I need to know how the half sibling fits in. Is he your father's child or mother's?

It is a little more complicated than that. Is the half-brother your mother's or father's outside the marriage? Depending on the answer your mother may or may not have issues. She should contact an attorney.
