Re: Deed

A deed (or a quitclaim) is used to add a person's name to a title. However that also removes a person's name from a title. If a person deeds an undivided one half interest, then that undivided one half interest would be the property of the grantee instead of the grantor. Texas however is a community property state and a spouse must join in the transfer of a homestead interest.

A word of warning about quit claim deeds. Many title companies don't recognize quitclaims as a valid form of conveyance. It is better to use a General Warranty Deed or Special Warranty Deed to convey the undivided interest in the property.
