Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Delinquent Taxes

There is property next door to me that is under a law suit because of delinquent taxes. I however am interested in buying the property. How do I go about doing so.

Re: Delinquent Taxes

You can talk to the District Clerk of your county to find out the progress of the lawsuit, and also to find out when delinquent properties are sold each month. If the taxes are not paid, then eventually this property will be sold at public sale, and you can attend the sale and bid on it. You will need to be vigilant and find out where the notices are posted each month, so that you won't miss the sale.

Alternatively, you might contact the tax office and find out who owns the property, and you may be able to contact the owner, buy it and get the taxes and fees current before it is sold at public sale. Be careful if you do this, and consult with an attorney to make sure you don't miss any taxes or fees, or you might end up losing the property.
