Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

forclosed property

I am considering buying a piece of land (empty acreage) that has been forclosed on through an online auction. The sale is ''as is'' but the seller (an investment firm) won't or can't say if there are any liens against the property. If there are will I be held responsible to pay off a previous owners defaulted loan?

Re: forclosed property

You need to obtain a title report on the land. In an urban county, that costs about $150. You should also obtain title insurance any time you buy land. Yes, the land will be subject to any existing liens.
