Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
Freezing of Accounts
My husband and I recently received a letter from an attorney representing someone who we think is planning on suing us over a real estate matter. The attorney has threatened to freeze all of our accounts if we do not comply with their monetary demands. We have not yet been sued. We have not gone to court. There has been no judgement against us in any matter. Can the attorney freeze our accounts under these circumstances?

Checking the cold -- frozen accounts
There is a pre-judgment attachment procedure available, once suit is filed, but it requires a large bond be put up by the plaintiff. I'd be interested to see this attorney's letter for myself. you can contact me at my office.
