Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

A friend at the time came to me for help. He was just about to loose his home and property due to taxes. I agreed to help him out and pay his debt which was 3,500. The both of us along with a witness signed a written contract, i have the deed to his property as well. He has not made an effort to pay a dime back and its been well over the time agreed. What should I or can I do?

Depending on the quality of the documents you have (the deed and the contract), you might become the owner of his home. What you describe raises lots of questions:

1. Did he own the home outright?

2. Was he the only owner, or was he a co-owner?

3. Was the deed signed before a notary? Was it ever recorded?
