Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
My Grandmother passed away 3 years ago. My Father and his two brothers were next of kin. My Unlce (the oldest) is supposed to be handling the property: Grandmother's home and 63 acres of land in Dallas County, Texas. However, my Father has never received any information from the attorney handling the property in probate. My father passed a week ago. I am awaiting his Military Funeral. My father had an Irrevocable Living Trust and I was named as beneficiary. What do I need to do to get any information regarding this property, my rights and so forth. My Uncle refuses to discuss anything with me. Thank you.

If your grandmother's will was/is probated in Dallas County, you can contact the county clerk there to get a copy of the probate file. They can be quite extensive and the charge is often a dollar a page for copies, so you may want to go there and look at the file first. Or you can write or call the probate lawyer and see if he'll tell you anything. Rememebr that he represents the executor -- presumably your uncle -- so you'll need your own lawyer if things get contentious.
