Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas
HOA Assessments
I own a home in a subdivision in Texas which has a Homeowners Association that was established by Deed Restrictions. The Association was initially very active and responsible with reporting financial conditions etc. However they became irresponsible and did not furnish any newsletters etc for last 15-20 years so I stopped paying my monthly assessment and now the Board of Assoc is threatening Foreclosure and Legal action. Is there a statute of Limitations that allows them to collect 20 years back and if so what are their obligations for reporting and submitting financial proof of accountability and audit history. They spend money on social events etc that are questionable in my mind.

Re: HOA Assessments
In general, you don't get to second guess them and you owe the money. Let me know if you want to pay to fight them.
