Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

home inspection

We purchased a home, the former owner gave us a worksheet of minor things wrong with home. We had the house inspected and the inspector only listed minor things wrong. after closing on the home the insurance company notifited us there was a problem with the roof which was not reported by the homerowner or the inspector and that our insurance will be canceled if not repaired. Is the former owner and or inspector liable in anyway. for not revealing the problem before we purchased? will I have to pay for the repairs and will I be able to get my money back for the cost. Am I entitled to three times the amount of my purchased because I was not advised of the problem .

Re: home inspection

If it were me, I would have the roof repaired, and present the seller with the invoice for reimbursement and a demand letter. (Get evidence that the roof problem was a pre-existing condition.) If they don't reimburse you, you can sue them in small claims court as long as the claim is under $10,000. Have your evidence ready.
