Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

House auctioned for delinquent school taxes

The school district filed a lawsuit against me for delinquent taxes. I was unaware of the date or location for the hearing. Since I did not attend, the district won the right to sell my home at auction for the past due amount. I have owned my home for the past 5 years. Is there anything I can do prevent this from happening or is it already too late?

You need to get a lawyer NOW. Depending on when this happened and the type of property, you may have a right of redemption, or you may be able to file a motion for new trial, but you need to act VERY QUICKLY.

Call the law office on the notice NOW! You may be able to avoid the foreclosure. Foreclosure day is the 1st Tuesday of each month - tomorrow. They will expect to be hearing from you. If you can't get through, go to their office. If foreclosure already happened, you have a right of redemption, but there will be a hefty fee.
